Our Story
We are proud to be a small independent Galway-owned accommodation group. We love Galway, that’s why we live here and we know you will too! We’ve been welcoming tourists to Galway city since 1991 in our famous Woodquay Hostel. We were one of the very first hostels in Galway and in recent years we’ve expanded further out in County Galway to beautiful Connemara with our Mountain & Lake view Hostel, Ben Lettery. The Galway Rooms is our most recent addition and we’ve put our heart & soul & all of our bank balance into the Stylish Self Check in Rooms in the heart of the West-End. We’re excited to be in Galway’s West-End, an older, slower part of the city which is full of independent, Irish owned businesses like ourselves. The West End is a vibrant area which is saturated in culture and offers amazing food, drink and music. We love being nestled between the slow paced beat of the pubs & cafes here and the frantic pace of the Corrib River. Whilst we’re not on site to meet you in person, we know that you have everything you need in The Galway Rooms & on your doorstep to fall in love with Galway.

Cathal

When not chatting to guests or knocking up excel spreadsheets, Cathal can be found walking in the hills of Connemara. A Galway native ask him anything you want to know about the city; the best pint or best coffee are his speciality subjects.
Donna
WQ Crew
When not checking people in & talking to guests Donna can be found in the sea in Galway Bay. Avid traveller & adventure seeker, it’s a wonder how we manage to keep Donna in Galway. Everyone loves Donna (read the reviews), she loves to hear all about your day. A great cook and foodie, anything you want to know about the best eateries in our city chat to Donna.
Kenny
WQ Crew
Kenny can’t get enough of WQ Hostel, no matter how many times he leaves to go on his travels around the world he always comes back. Kenny is like a walking encyclopaedia, ask him anything… literally anything! But his speciality is Galway history & attractions.
Violetta
WQ Crew
As well as keeping Woodquay spotless Violetta’s other passion is cooking. Watch out for her delicious chocolate cake which she occasionally brings in.

Our Charity Partnership
We have partnered with The Galway Simon community a registered charity who have been providing services since 1979 to people who are homeless in Galway. We give 50% of the proceeds from every towel hired at Woodquay Hostel to The Simon Community, as well as taking parts in local events to raise money and awareness.
